Join us at El Studio for a hands-on introduction to the art of wheel throwing — a cozy, small-group series designed for true beginners (and for anyone who just wants to unplug and try something new).
In this workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of ceramics: how to center clay on the wheel, pull walls, trim, add decoration, and glaze your finished pieces. We created this class based on everything we taught ourselves online when we first fell in love with pottery back in 2020 — it’s not a university-level course, but it will cover all the essentials (and all the tips and tricks we wish we’d known starting out).
This series is for the curious, the creative, and anyone who needs an excuse to put their phone away and get their hands muddy. You’ll walk away with a foundation to keep practicing on your own — and a few pieces to prove it.

Thursday Nov 13: Pick-Up & Potluck Night — We’ll bring some charcuterie and have a casual community conversation on how to keep creating at home, plus everything you need to continue your ceramics journey.

We understand that things can come up at the last minute, which is why we offer a cancellation policy in which we will grant a full refund of your ticket price if you give us a cancellation notice at least 48 hours before this workshop starts. Please do so via email at ocislyceramics@gmail.com.
Cancellations any time after that will not be refunded, and since we offer workshops occasionally we will try to re-schedule you in a future one or offer other studio activities.
If you can’t make it to any of the classes, we will try but cannot promise to be able to re-schedule alone time in the studio to make up for the time you missed. If you can’t pick up pieces on the last day, we will hold them for 1 month in the studio.
